The recipe does clearly call for 6 oz packages of Jello. As someone mentioned below, the jello needs to be made with half the water called for on the box. I can't rate this yet because I have not served it I'm not real happy about it right now.ĭelicious and fun. Plus it seems like the only thing I can taste is the lime jello, which is so strong-flavored the other ones taste like lime, too! The cinnamon flavor in the milk gelatin is very faint. As a result, there is not enough white between the cubes and too thick a layer of white on top. Don't just open 6 packets and dump them in! The description of this dessert clearly says that there is a layer of the milk jello poured into the pan before adding the colored cubes. Note that in my brand of gelatin, I only needed a little more than 4 packets to get 4 tablespoons. I followed the directions and the recipe set fine. I would make it again as long as kids were going to be eating it. I cut it less than two inches square and put it in little paper pastry holders (like cupcake liners, but square). Even though it seemed firm yesterday, it was definitely firmer when I cut it today and the colors looked beautiful. The kids LOVED it and it was really pretty. When you’re ready to serve, invert the gelatina onto a cutting board, cut into 3- to 4-inch cubes, and place on a serving platter. Refrigerate until set and firm, 2 to 3 hours. Evenly spread out and mix each flavor in the 9 × 13-inch pan. Remove the colored gelatins from the refrigerator and cut each flavor into 1-inch cubes. Set aside while you prep the colored gelatins. Remove the cinnamon stick and whisk in the condensed milk, half-and- half, and vanilla extract. Add the cinnamon stick, remove from the heat, and let the mixture steep for 30 minutes. Add the whole milk and heat to just under a simmer. Set the saucepan over medium-low heat and stir occasionally until the gelatin has dissolved. Set aside for about 5 minutes so the gelatin can bloom. In a 3-quart saucepan, mix the gelatin into 1 cup water. Step 3Īfter the jellos have been in the fridge for 30 minutes, make the milk gelatin. Pour each into its own greased square pan. In three separate bowls, mix each package of flavored gelatin with 2 cups boiling water. Lightly coat three 8-inch square pans and one 9 × 13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
